Why can't I find 320GB Portable Hard Drives and 32GB USB sticks in the shops in the UK?
Large retail chains often buy their stock in massive bulk quantities to get super-discounted prices. Sounds good...but sadly the downside to this is their equally massive overheads for expensive high street stores, staff and traditional advertising through TV and print media. So by the time they price their items for their customers their original discount is completely eaten away.
Worse still, buying in bulk means that they are constantly left trying to sell old and obsolete stock with tiny capacities at over the top prices. Because they are desperate to clear this old stock they're very reticent to introduce next generation models.
However, we are exclusively web-based, therefore we have much smaller overheads:We don't actually have to rent, maintain or staff a shop
We also don't pay for traditional ads or printed literature (to minimise both our costs and our carbon footprint)
Our philosophy:
We buy in smaller quantities and only buy the two highest capacity units available, which we only buy until the next generation of larger, greater capacity drives are available. Therefore our customers are only offered the latest, state-of-the-art products from all over the world at the very lowest prices possible and always months before they have even begun to reach the UK high street.
For example, nearly all UK retailers are selling 512MB to 2GB flash sticks, less than half are presently even offering 4GB sticks, less than a quarter are selling 8GB sticks and only a tiny handful are selling 16GB sticks. We however ONLY sell 16GB and 32GB flash sticks! As soon as we can get our hands on 64GB sticks we will stop buying 16GB ones completely.
By the way, we expect to have those 64GB sticks available within three months, watch this space, because you'll see them here way ahead of the curve!

Though the official name is USB flash drive, there are many other names also used in popular language, including key drive, jump drive, thumb drive, flash drive, USB drive, keychain drive, memory key, pen drive and the like. Some of the names used in popular language are based on individual brand names of USB flash drive models, others are simply short forms of the full USB flash drive term, or a reference to the devices' looks or method of carrying them.
